Osiris: New Dawn is a survival Horror type of game. You’re lost on an alien world brimming with hostile life and nothing but some tools to rebuild. Walking and mining are a big thing in this game. Mostly walking, lots of walking. Thankfully the ~ key let’s you auto-walk so you can check your Facebook updates on the way to resource locations.

By default the 4 key is your hand held map unit. This unit allows you to see a topographic map of your area. It does not allow you to find resource sites (just yet). But what it does do is give you a set of Longitude and Latitude coordinates of your current location. These coordinates can then be used to find resources. Longitude is East/West and Latitude is North/South.

The other fantastic feature of the map module in Osiris New Dawn, is finding your corpse, home and beacons you set up. Always bring enough material for 1-2 beacons with you as to not overweigh yourself. With the map unit selected, click left mouse to swap between all the different waypoints you may have. These will not show on the map however. There will be an arrow indicator on the top left of your HUD. This is handy if you need to shoot things on the way to the site. Always bring your pistol, otherwise the chisel is a handy melee weapon.

Osiris New Dawn is a Steam Early Access game, so expect lots of bugs, things to change and more features added and fleshed out. As for Early access, this is a fantastic and well polished game so far. Hopefully they keep on this great path.
